Creating an academic argument involves suggesting a claim or opinion regarding a specific topic of interest (Miller-Cochran et al., 2015). The discussion consists of a research question that provides the intent and direction of the research and a thesis statement which is a single assertion answering the question directly. The research questions include; What is the effect of playing video games on the academic performance of teenage students? The research point examines the social sciences discipline. What is the impact of smoking cigarettes on the blood pressure of pregnant women? The question explores the natural sciences field. What is the effect of the Ukrainian war on the United States petroleum industry? The research question assesses the humanities discipline.
