this assignment is for bioethics class. it’s the final paper
the question is:
- Assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs), especially variants of in vitro fertilization used in conjunction with pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), seems to give prospective parents an ever-increasing amount of control over the kinds of children they have. Professor Amy Laura Hall has called using reproductive technologies in this way “ungracious,”1 and for this reason has cautioned against their use.In conversation with the breadth of your learning, write a well-crafted essay in which you develop an argument defending or refuting Professor Hall’s claim. Be sure to consider: 1) what Hall might mean when she calls these technologies “ungracious”; 2) whether or not (and why) “graciousness”should factor in morally evaluating these technologies; 3) how these technologies represent or fail to represent the traditional ends of medical practice; 4) what the longer-term consequences—both for good and for ill—of using these technologies in these ways could be.
I’ll upload some articles (3) and there’s some links (2) to answer the question. I’m not allowed to use outside sources.(please don’t use outside source)
