Question Description
I’m working on a philosophy exercise and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Where You’ve Come From: What are the core values of your life? This is what you believe to be the most important character traits you and your family hold dear. Who you are is significantly defined by what you inherit and what you do with it.
Where You Are Now: What are the practices that you’ve engaged in? Which have been most meaningful in your life? What virtues or traits are required to succeed in them? Who are your heroes and role models? How do they fit in?
- Where You Want to Be: What is your ‘grand goal in life’ that unifies the different practices that you are engaged in, or wish to be in the future?
How to Get to your Goal: What additional qualities of character or virtues are necessary to empower you on your life’s journey? In this regard, what are your current strengths and weaknesses? Finally, has this exercise yielded any new insights? If so, what are they?
- Connection to Ethical Theories: Consider the various ethical theories we’ve studied this week. Based on what you’ve described as “your life’s quest,” which ethical theory best describes how you see the world? Identify at least two theories that may be relevant and apply them to your world view.
