The family sought therapy due to parental disagreements over their daughter, Anna’s, behaviors. Lately, it was discovered that Anna is drinking alcohol with friends.

Daughter: Anna, 16, is a Freshman cheerleader and gets decent grades.

Mother: Tracy, age 36, has not been employed outside the home during her and Charles’ 20 years of marriage.

Father: Charles, age 36, is employed full-time outside the home. He was raised in a strict and rigid family.


Instructions PART 1

  1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
  2. Review the case study videos:

  3. Complete an assessment on each family member in the video using the assessment format found in Appendix A(new tab) of the textbook Collaborative Therapy with Multi-Stressed Families.
    1. Include all the components that seem relevant for this family, including a likely DSM-5 diagnosis for the daughter.
    2. Be sure to include the ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes.
  4. Incorporate two to three of the “externalizing” questions from Appendix B(new tab) as part of your assessment.
  5. Your assessment format should follow accepted guidelines for assessments. While you don’t need to use formal APA style (although you should use one-inch margins and Times New Roman font size 12) as no references are required, you must follow proper spelling, grammar, and other conventions.
  6. When you’ve completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor by the end of the workshop.
